ness-arlington/\n\nJoin us for our March Postering Madness Campaign\, whic
h will raise awareness of the ongoing extinction of various animal species
 . We have created simple letter-sized [posters](https://drive.google.com/f
olderview?id=1gH_UnuUdfWkhhSkZ-MBWu4CSuF6CcbpB) that you can print at hom
e and hang in your neighborhood. The posters aim to imitate simple posters
that you would hang up if your pet bird flew away or your cat escaped. In
stead\, we mourn wild animals that are going extinct or getting displaced.
\n\nThis “March Postering Madness” event will be in downtown Boston
. We will meet as a group and put up posters in the downtown Boston area.
Please let us know if you would like to organize other postering outings
with your affinity group or just with friends. Feel free to use this event
description as a template. (Email: outreach.xrboston at gmail.com)\n\n*Si

or the meet up.*\n\n**Some Background on the 6th Mass Extinction**\n\nThe
report by the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC) was publish
ed on February 28. The United Nations report is written by 270 researchers
from 67 countries. The report lays out the devastating effects of the cli
mate catastrophe on humanity and all life on Earth. \n\nGlobal temperature
s have already increased by an average of 1.1 degrees Celsius (or 2 degree
s Fahrenheit). Additional increase of temperature is already locked in due
to lagged effects. Beyond 1.5 degrees Celsius of warming\, scientists pre
dict a high likelihood of an irreversible spiral of catastrophic climate i
mpacts. \n\nThe report made clear that the climate crisis is harming the p
lanet faster than we can adapt. In fact\, the sixth mass extinction is alr
eady happening right now. One-third of all plant and animal species could
be extinct by 2070\, which in turn has effects on respective ecosystems. T
he IPCC report also points out increased pressure on food production and a
ccess which is putting millions worldwide at increased risk of hunger and
malnutrition.\n\nLearn more details in this [youtube video](https://youtu.
