DESCRIPTION:Event details: https://xrboston.org/action/march-postering-mad
ness-harvard-square/\n\nJoin us for this “March Postering Madness” eve
nt on Sunday\, March 27 at 2pm. We will meet in Harvard Square and branch
out from there putting up posters that raise awareness of the ongoing exti
nction of various animal species. We have created simple letter-sized [pos
 ters](https://drive.google.com/folderview?id=1gH_UnuUdfWkhhSkZ-MBWu4CSuF6C
cbpB) that imitate simple posters that you would hang up if your pet bird
flew away or your cat escaped. Instead\, we mourn wild animals that are g
oing extinct or getting displaced. \n\nWe'll meet at the Cambridge Visitor
Information Booth at the "super cross-walk" / by the T station entrance -
 - officially 0 Harvard Square. This event is sponsored by the Solidarity H
ive & Albatross Affinity Groups.\n\n**Some Background on the 6th Mass Exti
nction**\n\nThe report by the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (I
PCC) was published on February 28. The United Nations report is written by
270 researchers from 67 countries. The report lays out the devastating ef
fects of the climate catastrophe on humanity and all life on Earth. \n\nGl
obal temperatures have already increased by an average of 1.1 degrees Cels
ius (or 2 degrees Fahrenheit). Additional increase of temperature is alrea
dy locked in due to lagged effects. Beyond 1.5 degrees Celsius of warming\
, scientists predict a high likelihood of an irreversible spiral of catast
rophic climate impacts. \n\nThe report made clear that the climate crisis
is harming the planet faster than we can adapt. In fact\, the sixth mass e
xtinction is already happening right now. One-third of all plant and anima
l species could be extinct by 2070\, which in turn has effects on respecti
ve ecosystems. The IPCC report also points out increased pressure on food
production and access which is putting millions worldwide at increased ris
k of hunger and malnutrition.\n\nLearn more details in this [youtube video
