 **From organizers at Mass Peace Action:** The purpose of this conference i
 s to bring together a mass movement and situate ourselves in our political
  reality of repression in the US and genocide in Gaza and creeping annexat
 ion in the West Bank.  We must work in alliance to build a society based o
 n solidarity\, peace and justice. Our work\, based here in Massachusetts\,
  will be shaped by national and international developments.  We are holdin
 g this conference before the inauguration so we can prepare for the crises
  we will face after January 20.\n\nThe goal is to take meaningful steps to
 ward creating a vigorous alliance of coalitions\, organizations\, unions\,
  houses of worship and other groups and individuals who pursue peace\, pro
 tection of the earth\, the wellbeing of working families\, rights to bodil
 y autonomy and reproductive justice\, economic justice\, and those resisti
 ng 400 years of genocide\, racism and other oppressions. \n\nDuring the ha
 rd times ahead\, we must defend ourselves\, protect vulnerable groups\, an
 d expand our organizing efforts into broader constituencies. We must activ
 ate people who are disengaged and discouraged. We must come together to de
 velop the capacity to shape the flexible strategies needed to survive and 
 succeed during this period.\n\nWe face a moment and challenges that are un
 precedented in U.S. history. Even before his inauguration Donald Trump is 
 consolidating dictatorial power. His first priorities include the mass dep
 ortation of up to 11 million immigrants which will require police state me
 thods and concentration camps. \n\nHe encouraged Netanyahu to “finish th
 e job” of genocide in Gaza. The Middle East will remain in dangerous tur
 moil. The escalating Ukraine war threatens to turn nuclear. Rather than ac
 hieve common security with China\, we face the possibility of war with Bei
 jing. And the endless wars grind on.\n\nThe commitment to a fossil fuel fu
 ture presents the climate movement with its greatest challenges yet to rev
 erse the increasingly deadly attacks on the earth and life on it. To ensur
 e compliance\, Trump plans to imprison political enemies and purge the mil
 itary of those loyal to the Constitution.\n\nTo make wealthy oligarchs ric
 her\, the plan is to slash funding for health care\, public education\, ho
 using and more. With the promised assault on the media and our universitie
 s\, it will be even more difficult to distinguish truth from fiction.\n\nO
 n January 19\, we will hear from national and local speakers\, go deep int
 o issues in breakouts\, brainstorm solutions\, and peruse literature table
 s.\n\nThe conference will be in person only at Roxbury Community College.
