 gal oberserver training by the [National Lawyers Guild (NLG)](https://nlgm
 ass.org/) for XR members and friends.\n\nNLG Legal Observers (LOs) are pre
 sent at protests and demonstrations\, and often serve as witnesses at subs
 equent trials. They can also serve as deterrents to police misconduct. The
  very presence of a Legal Observer sends a signal to police and activists 
 that events will be documented. Such documentation can and will be used in
  criminal and/or civil cases arising out of the demonstration. \n\nExample
