Animal Rebellion Boston Kick-off

This kick-off will take place on Zoom from 6 to 7:30 pm. Late comers welcome!

Animal Rebellion Boston is an affinity group for XR Boston open to anyone in the chapter who is interested in developing actions to work towards changing the global food system from an animal agriculture-based, climate-destroying system to a more regenerative system, allowing the reclaiming of a vast amount of mono-crop farmland and animal grazing lands to their natural, wild state.

A secondary goal of the group is to promote a more plant-based diet by advocating for the service of plant-based foods at places where food is served and enjoying plant-based foods in community with one another.

Our vision is that we would plan a couple of direct actions this year that make the connection between climate breakdown and animal agriculture salient, support XR Boston’s major mass protests in the Spring and Fall, and bridge the gap between the climate movement and the animal rights movement. Rather than relying on converting individual people to veganism, we will put pressure on public institutions (e.g., public schools, universities, workplaces, and conferences) to provide plant-based meals.

It is our belief that agriculture is an underreported climate issue that not only affects greenhouse gases (animal agriculture contributes more greenhouse gases than all global transportation), but breaches several other safe planetary boundaries such as clean fresh water, nitrogen pollution, biodiversity, and deforestation.
