Training Series: How to Talk to the Media

Wednesday, Aug 16

We will meet at the Cambridge Common at the Civil War Monument

This training will last 90 minutes.

Are you curious to learn more about different support roles for Extinction Rebellion Boston?

How to Talk to the Media: This session will examine: what does the media want to know? How can I be an effective spokesperson for Extinction Rebellion? Is it possible they would talk to me? How can I craft a good message?

Participants will explore: 1) what messages XR Boston actions are striving to communicate, 2) how to construct your own story and convey it public. The training will end with role playing to help hone these newly acquired skills.

If you are interested in this topic, you may want to attend the upcoming Short Talks Workshop.

Other sessions in this training series include:

  • Police Liaison: Conveys information and demands between the police and the group before/during actions. Helps to keep the police calm and reminds them of our non-violence.

  • Arrest support: Provides direct personal support for arrestable people. They have all relevant personal information, will take the call from the police station, provide support at the police station and makes sure everyone gets home safely.

  • Peacekeeping & deescalation, August 21: Help guide people where to go and keep protest safe by blocking traffic block of streets for us along the parade route.
