NO GAS IN MASS RALLY
IF YOU ATTEND ONE CLIMATE EVENT BEFORE THE END OF 2026: LET IT BE THIS ONE. Thursday, October 1, 8 am to 10 am. Rose Fitzgerald Kennedy Greenway, across from the Federal Reserve Building.
Why are we protesting? For years, XR Boston and our allies have stood for No New Fossil Fuel Infrastructure in Massachusetts. In March, Governor Healey issued an Executive Order saying, "I believe in an all-of-the-above approach to energy – that means solar, wind, gas, nuclear and hydro. While the President is taking American-built energy sources off the table, in Massachusetts, we are saying yes to more supply from more sources of energy.” Using this language put us all at risk - and handed a weapon to the fossil fuel industry.
Now the Northeast Energy & Commerce Association, a haven for fossil fuel interests, is using Healey's language as the title of their gas conference. Keynote speakers include the VP of energy markets for American Gas Association. Planned panels will be led by Shell Oil (Natural Gas Executive Dialogue: How Do We Responsibly Meet Present and Future Needs?) and Iroquois Pipeline Operating Company (Building for the Future: Pipelines and the Evolving Energy Landscape).
IF WE CARE ABOUT CLIMATE, WE MUST OPPOSE THIS. We must let Healey know that her words show us that she aligns with fossil fuels, and fossil fuels are not welcome in Massachusetts.
NECA is trying to sneak under the radar, we won't let them. Join us on October 1 to blow their cover by chanting, holding banners, and passing out informational material to everyone we see in downtown Boston. This is our chance to unite and fight back.
