[Solidarity] FIRE & FLOOD: QUEER RESILIENCE IN THE ERA OF CLIMATE CHANGE

Wednesday, Sep 29

Join your neighbors for a community discussion of Queer Resilience in the Era of Climate Change. This 104-minute documentary tells the story of Hurricane Maria in Puerto Rico and the fires in Santa Rosa, California, two-near simultaneous climate-related disasters in the fall of 2017, through the voices of LGBTQ people who lived through them and were part of the community response. The documentary also explores the vulnerability of LGBTQ communities to climate disasters and lifts up queer and trans strategies for resilience, transition, and survival. This program is presented in partnership with JP@Home Climate Legacy and Extinction Rebellion.

JP@Home is a "village" of more than 100 elder residents of JP and adjacent communities who are choosing to age in place at home. "Climate Legacy" is one of many activities generated by the JP@Home membership. This group is an offshoot of national Elder Climate Action and works in conjunction with intergenerational activists to mitigate our generation's miserable climate legacy while increasing awareness of the climate crisis among our peers. XR: Extinction Rebellion (XR) is an international mobilization for non-violent disobedience against government inaction on climate change and the wider ecological emergency. The Boston area chapter engages in many forms of action.
