We're On Fire - an intersectional performance protest

Saturday, Aug 29

Come be a part of this performance art protest! We will begin at the busy intersection of Pleasant St and Commercial St, between Malden City Hall and the Malden Center T stop.

We plan to perform non-disruptively to bring attention to the wildfires that have become so much more frequent and devastating due to the climate crisis. We will invite cars and pedestrians passing by to reflect on whether local politicians are doing enough to address this issue that affects us all (spoiler - we think they are not. When is the last time you saw a campaign flier with climate listed as the #1 priority?)

We need volunteers to help hold banners, signs and puppets! Please RSVP as soon as you know you are able to attend, so that we can prepare a stunning visual statement.

Even if the climate crisis is not your #1 concern in our current political turmoil, please consider attending. So many issues of social justice are multiplied at the intersections - rather than affecting us all equally, wildfire displacement and toxic smoke amplify the same social inequities that our power system upholds.
