Animal Rebellion Holiday Outreach

Sunday, Dec 18

Animal Rebellion Boston Holiday Outreach

When: Sunday, December 18th at 1 pm, will run from ~ 1 - 3 pm.

Where: Meet outside Porter Square T Station.

What: Let's get out into the thicket of the holiday shopping and talk to folks about why we need to transition to a plant based food system! We are aiming to use this event to recruit new members to our Animal Rebellion AG and to get folks to try out going vegan for January (so called "Veganuary"). In the first portion of the event, we will go over how to have conversations about plant based food systems. We will do outreach around Porter Sq. and then hop on the red line and do outreach around Harvard Sq. Talking points and hand outs will be provided.

Why: The climate crisis is here, it’s happening, and we need to act now. We know the key solution is a transition to a plant-based food system - we have no choice but to do everything in our power to make this happen. For climate justice and animal justice, let’s come together, use our collective power and change everything.

From Our World in Data:

"Half of the world’s habitable land is used for agriculture, with most of this used to raise livestock for dairy and meat. Livestock are fed from two sources – lands on which the animals graze and land on which feeding crops, such as soy and cereals, are grown. How much would our agricultural land use decline if the world adopted a plant-based diet?

Research suggests that if everyone shifted to a plant-based diet we would reduce global land use for agriculture by 75%. This large reduction of agricultural land use would be possible thanks to a reduction in land used for grazing and a smaller need for land to grow crops. The research also shows that cutting out beef and dairy (by substituting chicken, eggs, fish or plant-based food) has a much larger impact than eliminating chicken or fish." ^1

What to bring: Plant based/animal rights/vegan clothes and imagery, XR patches and flags, and/or just come as you are!

Love and rage!
