Training: Talk To Press During Civil Disobedience

Sunday, Jul 26

Civil disobedience demonstrations are an intense environment: fellow protestors chanting, passersby demanding answers, possible police presence, etc. It takes practice to keep a cool head and deliver the message of an organization to journalists amongst that much disruption. However, a solid spokesperson interview can make all the difference between press coverage that respects climate activists, and press coverage that takes the side of the oppressors.

You can make that difference. In this brief in-person training, members of XR Boston's Media & Messaging working group will train you to serve as an action spokesperson, securing and giving interviews with members of the press. We'll workshop XR Boston press talking points, work with real press releases, and do practice interviews! The training will last from 11 am to 1 pm, remember to bring a water bottle and wear sunscreen like you would for a daytime protest.

Action spokesperson is a great role for you if you're a tenacious communicator who loves to talk about climate justice and disrupting the status quo!
